Key features

BLADE SHAPE
Traverse features a kukri-style machete blade that also incorporates characteristics of the traditional Malaysian parang. This hybrid geometry combines the advantages of two time-tested cutting tools.
The forward-curving profile shifts weight toward the tip, increasing chopping power and cutting efficiency. At the same time, the smooth blade shape provides excellent control when working with branches, vines, brush, and small-diameter wood.
Thanks to this design, Traverse serves as a versatile field blade suitable for:

  • Trail clearing
  • Cutting brush and vegetation
  • Chopping small branches
  • Preparing kindling and fire-starting materials
  • Camp setup and shelter building
  • General outdoor utility work

For many outdoor enthusiasts, these tasks perfectly demonstrate what a machete is used for during hiking, camping, bushcraft activities, and extended wilderness travel.

HANDLE
The handle is made from burlap Micarta, providing a secure grip even in wet conditions. Micarta is highly resistant to moisture, temperature changes, and heavy outdoor use.
PVC spacers are installed between the steel and handle scales to help absorb vibration during chopping and improve comfort during extended work sessions.
The Full Tang construction runs through the entire handle, creating a strong and reliable foundation for demanding field use.
SHEATH AND CARRY SYSTEM
Traverse comes with a lightweight ABS plastic sheath, weighing about 110 g. A nylon sling is used for suspension, which allows you to conveniently carry the machete on your belt or equipment.
Traverse combines the capabilities of a compact machete and a dedicated camp tool. It can be viewed as a large outdoor utility knife or a lightweight chopping tool designed to handle a variety of wilderness and camp tasks with efficiency and control.

Outstanding value for the money! This outdoor tool has excellent fit and finish - crazy sharp and very comfortable in hand. The sheath is heavy-duty and built like a tank. With proper use, this knife should last a long time. I own three BPS knives and am happy with all of them. Simple, strong, no-BS knives at an unbeatable price. If you're on the fence, pick the one that fits your needs - you won't regret it!

I bought a couple of these mainly for the sheath, based on reviews—and they did not disappoint. The sheath alone is worth twice the price! The knife itself is simple, sharp out of the box, lightweight, and very functional. I’ve been using it daily for a week and it performs great. I smoothed out some square edges to my liking, but overall it’s a solid tool. Highly recommend if you want a basic, reliable knife that won’t break the bank. I’ve already picked up a few and plan to get more!

This fits a wide variety of fixed blade knives because the quality of the leather is such that you can easily wet-form to the knife you want to carry in this sheath. Excellent quality! I also like that it means I can support the Ukraine while keeping my knives safe and secure. I have loved all the products I have purchased from BPS and can highly recommend their work!

Frequently Askes Questions

What makes BPS knives different from other knives?

BPS Knives stand out for their quality, functional design, and affordable price. Made in Ukraine, our feature full-tang construction, sharp Scandi grinds, and durable materials like 1066 carbon steel and walnut wood. Designed for real outdoor use, each knife is field-ready, reliable, and built to last.

Do BPS knives require special sharpening techniques?

BPS knives don’t require special sharpening techniques, but they do benefit from using the right method for their grind. Most BPS knives feature a true Scandi grind, which is best sharpened by laying the bevel flat against the stone and maintaining consistent contact across the entire edge — no secondary bevel needed.

For best results:
- Use a whetstone or diamond stone.
- Maintain the original bevel angle (usually around Scandi Scandi20° total).
- Finish with a stropping step to polish and refine the edge.

It’s simple, effective, and easy to maintain even in the field.

Can I return my knife if I’m not satisfied?
